Safety & Security Procedures for Home Football Games at Raymond A. Costello Stadium, as well as, the Burr Gymnasium have been updated. Please read below our policies & procedures.

Dear BCHS Community,

We are excited to welcome students, families, and spectators to join the Blue Devil Nation at our Athletic Facilities to support our Blue Devil teams, cheerleaders, and/or band.
We want to take this opportunity to inform you of our updated safety and security procedures for all home athletic events. These include:

  • All visitors attending athletic events at Raymond A. Costello Stadium or the Burr Gymnasium will be wanded with a portable metal detecting instrument before entering the stadium/gym.
  • Backpacks and large bags are prohibited. No exceptions. Only small purses (4.5” x 6.5”), diaper bags, and medical bags are allowed in the stadium. Burlington City reserves the right to make changes to this policy at any time to meet the safety needs of our students, fans, guests, and athletes.
  • All bags are subject to search at the gate and if deemed allowable may be tagged with a color band.
  • There will be no “re-entry” once a person leaves the stadium or gymnasium.
  • Sideline passes are REQUIRED to be on the field during the game --No exceptions.
  • For safety reasons, spectators are restricted from entering the field or court before, during, or immediately after the game.

The Burlington City Police Department will have officers on duty and on-site during the game. The School District will have contracted security personnel present. In addition, District administrators and District safety personnel are on duty during all athletic events. Students in grades K-8 are not allowed to attend a game without a parent or guardian present and on-site.


Prohibited Stadium Items/Behaviors

  • Outside food, drinks, backpacks, coolers, ice chests, picnic baskets and glass containers (concession stands are available for football only)
  • Artificial noisemakers including, but not limited to, whistles, horns, air-horns, laser pointers, or electric megaphones
  • Spectator sporting equipment (frisbees, balls, etc.), as they may become a safety issue
  • Animals, with the exception of service animals and service animals in training
  • Tobacco products of any kind (including e-cigarettes/vaping devices) are not allowed on school property, which includes the entire WWIS and any Burlington City campus, the parking lot and the stadium
  • Alcohol, drugs, drug paraphernalia, and gambling are prohibited on school property and at the stadium, including the parking lot
  • Weapons (including replica weapons such as Orbeez guns or any other form of a weapon)
  • Abusive, foul or disruptive language, including clothing containing abusive, foul or disruptive language and/or graphics
  • Fighting, taunting or threatening remarks or gestures
  • Intoxication or other signs of impairment related to alcohol consumption or drug use
  • Verbal or physical harassment of other guests, including opposing team fans
  • Any other item or behavior deemed dangerous or inappropriate by school administration

*Any person violating the above guidelines may be ejected from the event without refund.


Signs are permitted, but must be handheld, event-related, in good taste and cannot obstruct another guest's view. District administration reserves the right to mandate removal of signs that are in violation of above stadium guidelines.

Ticketing

Electronic ticketing has been implemented for all football, all basketball, and some wrestling sporting events for Burlington City High School. These events will be cashless at the gate/door entrances. As a result, spectators for Home Football, Basketball games, and Wrestling in the Burr will be required to purchase tickets online or via the Hometown Fan App. Spectators may purchase tickets prior to the event or at the event upon arrival to the stadium. QR codes will be posted on the BCHS Athletics website for advance sales and will also be available at the event Gate entrances. Ticket purchases will include a small online service fee. Senior citizens will be free of charge with a valid ID presented at the door or gate.
